Chocolate when at this level of cocoa solids provides your body with not only a mood enhancer but also contains nutrition benefits for your body. This includes phytochemicals or plant-based chemicals which have health benefits for your body. One main type of phytochemical found in cocoa are flavonoids which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals which can cause damage and disease to the cells of your body. Research has found cocoa can also help your cholesterol levels to be healthier

Bananas are a great source of potassium to promote lower blood pressure. The fibre found in the peanut butter, banana and Corn Thins slices combine to further lower the glycaemic load of this meal than one single food could achieve. The protein and health monounsaturated fat in the peanut butter also contribute to even further lowering the glycaemic load. This meal tastes amazing and you may think it is not so good for your health but the combination of quality whole foods is doing good things for your health.

 

 

Ingredients

1. 3 Corn Thins slices

2. 40g of 100% peanut butter

3. 1 banana

4.  3 squares of 70% cocoa solids dark chocolate

 

Directions

  1. On a chopping board crush the dark chocolate into small pieces.
  2. Peel a banana and slice into small circles.
  3. Spread the peanut butter onto each Corn Thins slices, sprinkle the crushed chocolate and place on the banana pieces on top.
  4. Enjoy a breakfast that feels a bit naughty but is actually very nice.
