Chocolate, Berries and Yoghurt Dip with Corn Thins Slices

This recipe has multiple levels which promote a healthy gut microbiome. Starting with the probiotic rich yoghurt. Adding two serves of different probiotic rich foods like yoghurt is a great way to add into your gut types of microbes which will support your health.

To keep your gut healthy the health promoting microbes in your gut need food. These are called prebiotics. The berries, wholegrain, and nuts all contain prebiotic fibre. This is a type of non-digestible carbohydrate which your health promoting microbes love to feed on. The dark chocolate which contains 85% cocoa solids Research also is fuel for the gut microbes. Having multiple types of prebiotic sources is important as different microbes need different types of prebiotic fuel sources to stay alive and healthy. This is why it is recommended to include 30 different plant-based foods a week. This recipe will give you 5 which is a good start towards achieving your 30 different plant-based foods in your week.

This recipe alone is a good reminder that the foods you eat are more than calories. The nutrients provide your body with the ingredients to function optimally.

 

Ingredients

3 Corn Thins slices or 20g of Minis Original per serve

2 cups of Greek yoghurt

1.5 cups strawberries, sliced into halves

½ cup raspberries, chopped

½ cup unsalted cashews, chopped

50g dark chocolate, chopped into small pieces (85% cocoa or more)

 

Method

  1. In a medium sized mixing bowl combine the yoghurt, strawberries, raspberries, dark chocolate and cashews. Stir together until well combined.
  2. Serve in a bowl with 3-6 Corn Thins slices or 20g of Corn Thins Minis Original per serve.
