Produce of the Month

I had to bring back my favourite fruit for this month, this delicious berry is just a nutritious and delicious packet of perfection. The fruit I am talking about are strawberries. There is so much to love about strawberries, these delicious berries are nutrient dense and low in calories. 100g of strawberries gives you around 32 calories.
Gut health is so important and per 100g strawberries will give you 2g of dietary fibre. The polyphenols and prebiotic fibre present in strawberries will help to feed your health promoting microbes. When these microbes are fed and kept alive and healthy, they promote health to almost every part of your body from brain function to optimising your immune system function.
Key vitamins and minerals in strawberries include potassium which helps to lower your blood pressure and helps to keep your heart healthy. Also, vitamin C which promotes an optimal immune system function and is also needed to make the protein collagen. Vitamin B9 or folate which is needed to make and repair your DNA. Fourthly, manganese, which helps metabolise protein, carbohydrates, and cholesterol. Also, plays important roles in reducing inflammation in your body, creating new bone and normal blood clotting.
Corn Thins love strawberries too! There are many recipes available on the Corn Thins website, including ones that include strawberries. Some of the must try recipes are:
