Pink Lady apples

The produce for the month of July is a crunchy sweet fruit which shines in the cooler months - Pink Lady Apples. Beyond the benefit of the delicious, crunchy texture and sweet taste Pink Lady Apples also give your body dietary fiber. An adult needs between 25-30g of dietary fiber a day. Per 100g a pink lady apple can give you approximately 3.2g of dietary fiber. It is important to keep the skin on the apple as this is the part of the apple with a lot of the fiber.

Pink lady apples also give your body potassium which helps to keep your heart healthy by lowering your blood pressure. Also, vitamin K which is needed to keep your bones strong and to support normal blood clotting. Apples are also a good source of vitamin C which is needed to make the protein collagen and also help to keep your immune system working optimally. Pink lady apples are also a source of vitamin B6 which is needed to make red blood cells.

If you are stuck for a snack idea, try Corn Thins slices topped with some low-fat cream cheese and slices of Pink Lady Apple. Perfection! There is so much to love about the cooler months and one of them is that this delicious fruit is at its best.
