The produce for this month is a classy lady. Pink lady apples are a delicious fruit, and this month is in season. A medium sized pink lady apple contains around 50 calories. Pink lady apples are a good source of vitamin C which is an important component to create the protein collagen. Collagen helps to keep your skin looking youthful, your bones and tendons strong and your gums healthy. Pink lady apples also contain smaller amounts of calcium, non-haem iron, and vitamin A. Pink lady apples are also rich in antioxidants which help to fight off excess free radicals which can cause damage and disease to the cells of your body.

When enjoying a pink lady apple make sure to enjoy the whole fruit as the skin contains gut loving fiber. These apples are also a good source of pectin which is a prebiotic fiber. This is the type of fiber which feeds the health promoting microbes in your gut. When you feed these microbes and keep them health these microbes can better look after your health.
