Apple cinnamon baked RICE THINS slice

This slice includes protein from the egg whites, milk as well as from the whole grains Rice Thins product. Protein is important to help maintain your lean muscle mass and is an important part to any meal or snack. The Rice Thins slices and the apples provide fiber which, in addition to the protein and fat from the margarine help to lower the glycemic load.

To help your body to fight off free radicals which can cause damage and disease to the cells of your body the apples, Rice Thins slices and cinnamon all provide antioxidants and phytochemicals. The fat present in this meal plays an important role to help your body to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins found in the milk. A food by itself can provide your body with many health benefits but the correct combination of ingredients in a meal or snack can give your body far more

 

Ingredients

1 bag of Rice Thins Wholegrain

1.5 cups of milk

½ cup of packed brown sugar

½ cup of egg whites

1 tablespoon of melted margarine

½ teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking powder

1.5 cups chopped apples

 

Directions

  1. Place Rice Thins slices into a food processor and process until roughly a fine consistency.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C).
  3. In a mixing bowl add milk, sugar, egg whites, margarine, and cinnamon.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl combine the Rice Thins crumb with the baking powder.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the Rice Thins crumb and baking powder and add the apples then stir to combine.
  6. Spoon the mixture into an 8 by 8 inch pan coated with a light spray of extra virgin olive oil spray.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean and the top is firm to touch.
