June in Australia marks the depth of winter, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy crisp, refreshing fruits like nashi pears. Often called “apple pears” for their round shape and crunch, nashi pears are not only delicious, but also incredibly hydrating and gentle on the digestive system.

A 1 medium nashi pear (about 150–180g) provides around 4–5g of fibre, supporting gut health and helping maintain regular digestion. They are also rich in vitamin C, for immune support—especially important during winter—, and contain potassium to assist with fluid balance and muscle function.

With a high water content (around 85%), nashi pears are naturally hydrating, which can be helpful during colder months when fluid intake often drops. Their low glycaemic impact and fibre content help support stable blood sugar levels, making them a great option for sustained energy without sharp spikes or crashes.

Using Nashi Pear with Corn Thins slices
Corn Thins slices provide a light, crunchy base that pairs beautifully with the juicy crispness of nashi pear. Here’s a simple seasonal snack idea:

Nashi Pear-Corn Thins Snack:

·        4 Corn Thins slices (24g)

·         ½–1 nashi pear, thinly sliced

·         Spread of ricotta or cottage cheese

·         Optional: drizzle of honey and sprinkle of cinnamon

This combination offers a balance of complex carbohydrates, fibre, hydration, and optional protein to support satiety and energy levels.

Tips to Enjoy:
• Top Corn Thins slices with ricotta, sliced nashi pear, and a sprinkle of walnuts for added healthy fats and crunch.
• Pair nashi pear slices with cheese (like cheddar or feta) for a satisfying sweet-savoury snack.
• Add thin slices to salads with leafy greens and grilled chicken for a refreshing winter meal.

Celebrate the freshness of June with nashi pears—crisp, hydrating, and a perfect seasonal addition to balanced snacks with Corn Thins slices
